with the Mayor’s Office
Pastor Richard Rangel continues to work with the San Francisco Mayor’s office. He represents the Mission 24 as part of a newly formed committee that includes representatives from the Mayor’s office, Criminal Justice Department, Police Department and other local organizations. The focus continues to revolve around creating and implementing new and innovative initiatives to help reduce youth crime in San Francisco. Friday July 6th, 2007: The
Mission 24 adds a Sunday Afternoon Service in San
Francisco – Hits the Streets with the
Gospel
The Mission 24 recently added a Sunday afternoon service in San Francisco. Part of the service includes taking the Gospel to the streets. On July 8th, over twenty members participated, fellowshipped and prayed with local residents and the homeless. Kelley Velasquez, a recently baptized San Francisco resident who has battled with drugs, alcohol, and homelessness helped lead the charge. He had an opportunity to share his testimony and recent conversion with other local residents who were dealing with the same circumstances. As the group walked the streets, they noticed as person who was about to be arrested for drunkenness. They were able to convince the officer that the individual would be better served coming back to the Mission 24. Once at the Mission, he received prayer, coffee, and an invitation to come to the Mission 24 every Friday and Sunday to receive a life changing experience. Taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the streets of San Francisco will now be part of the service, as Pastor Rangel focuses his efforts to reach the lost souls of the city.

Mission 24 Joins Faith Based Coalition
The
Mission 24 has become a charter member of the Faith
Based Coalition (FBC)
www.faithbasedcoalition.org,
a non-profit, non-denominational organization headed
by its founder Bishop Ted Frazier. Since joining forces
with FBC, we have attended several meetings at Mayor
Gavin Newsome’s office as part of a team working
to develop new initiatives and programs to combat the
drug, crime, and gang issues facing the youth in San
Francisco. The Mission 24 will be working with Bishop
Frazier in the Mission District, and looks forward to
providing him with our full support as we work together
to help the inner city youth. We are also working with
other FBC members and affiliates to bring community
services to the area.
Thursday, January 15, 2007: The
Mission 24 Incorporates
The Mission 24 has incorporated as a nonprofit organization.
This will better position us to facilitate our long-range
plans as we move forward. We intend to leverage our
new status to raise funds through public and private
grant money and donations from individuals and companies.
These funds will be used to perform community outreach
and work with the inner city youth of the San Francisco
Mission District. Tax laws encourage people and businesses
to donate money and property by allowing donors to deduct
their contributions on their own tax returns. Finally,
structuring our organization as a nonprofit corporation
provides protection for our directors, officers and
members from personal liability, keeping their personal
assets safe.
